Litokol Starlike Crystal is a translucent, fourth-generation epoxy grout, in a 2.5 kg bucket. It contains no color pigment but pure glass beads, allowing the grout to transmit light instead of blocking it. As a result, when used with glass mosaic and translucent tiles, the grout lines largely disappear.
Product & Application
Crystal is intended for fine joints from 0 to 3 mm, on floors and walls, indoors and outdoors. The cured grout is waterproof, stain-resistant, and UV-resistant. The translucent effect is most pronounced with light-transmitting materials.
- Ceramic and glass mosaic, and artistic mosaic
- Ceramic tiles and porcelain stoneware
- Large format tiles and laminated stoneware slabs
- Glass panels
- Wet indoor areas, bathrooms and showers
- Swimming pools and fountains, spas and hammams, and over underfloor heating
Observe the limit: marble, granite, natural stone, terracotta, and clinker are not listed in Crystal's datasheet. If you are grouting these materials, choose Starlike Pro, which is specified for them. Facades, terraces, balconies, and industrial floors also fall outside Crystal's specified applications.
Substrate & Compatibility
When used as a grout, Crystal should be applied in joints that are dry, dust-free, and open for at least two-thirds of the tile thickness. If used as an adhesive, the substrate must be load-bearing and free of loose particles, grease, oil, paint, wax, and rising damp, according to UNI 11493-1.
- Screeds, leveling compounds, and plasterwork
- Gypsum and anhydrite
- Concrete, cellular concrete, and fiber cement boards
- Existing tiles, metal, and wood
- Underfloor heating, waterproofing systems, and decoupling membranes
For polished porcelain stoneware and mosaic from diverse production batches, the manufacturer recommends a test grout. For Crystal, this is especially emphasized to preview the aesthetic result: the datasheet explicitly mentions unwanted optical effects as a reason for this test, in addition to cleanability.
Processing
Cut open the bag of hardener and empty it completely into the bucket with part A. Mix with a slow-rotating mixer of approximately 300 rpm until a creamy, lump-free mass is obtained, scraping the sides and bottom of the bucket. Manual mixing is not recommended, as an uneven mixture affects the final strength.
- Process between +10 °C and +30 °C
- Approximately 90 minutes working time in the bucket
- Apply with the Starlike rubber grout float, diagonally to the joint direction
- Clean while the product is fresh, with felt and then a damp sponge
- Light foot traffic after 24 hours, fully usable after 5 days, swimming pools after 7 days
Remove residue from the tile surface within 24 hours and no later than 48 hours, using Starlike Care for floors or Starlike Wall Care for walls. After that, the product can only be removed mechanically. Do not apply anything if the temperature drops below +10 °C within 24 hours, and protect the work from direct sunlight and strong drafts for the first 12 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I choose Crystal and when Starlike Pro? Crystal is translucent and for joints up to 3 mm; it allows glass mosaic and translucent tiles to shine. Starlike Pro is colored, goes up to 20 mm, and is also specified for natural stone, marble, terracotta, facades, and terraces. For these materials and locations, Pro is the right choice.
Does the grout really become invisible? No, translucent is not the same as invisible. The effect is strongest on materials that transmit light, such as transparent glass mosaic and glass panels. On opaque tiles, the grout line remains visible. Therefore, always make a test joint first.
Can I use Crystal in a swimming pool? Yes. Swimming pools and fountains are listed in the datasheet for applications, and the grout is waterproof and shrink-free. For swimming pools, allow 7 days before the basin is put into use, instead of the usual 5 days.
How much do I need? Consumption depends on the tile size, tile thickness, and joint width. Use the calculation tool on the product page or Litokol's consumption calculator. For adhesive, calculate with 1.1 kg/m² for a 2 mm notch, 1.6 kg/m² for 3.5 mm, and 2.5 kg/m² for 6 mm.
