Litokol X-Gel S1 is a deformable gel adhesive in powder form for bonding tiles, porcelain stoneware and natural stone, indoors and outdoors. It contains less than 29% cement and has an open time of more than 40 minutes, which allows for calmer work.

X-Gel S1 is classified as C2TE S1 according to EN 12004: an improved cementitious adhesive with extended open time, reduced slip and deformable behaviour.
An adhesive that gives you time. Creamy, stable on a wall, and with more than forty minutes of open time, you don't have to rush if a slab still needs to be moved an inch.

Note the limit: Do not use on wood or wood-based panel materials, and not on metal, rubber, PVC or linoleum. On plaster and anhydrite only after priming with X-Prime. Not on insufficiently cured concrete, and not on reactive waterproofing membranes of type RM according to EN 14891.
Substrate & compatibility
According to UNI 11493-1, the substrate must be mechanically sound and free of loose parts, grease, oil, paint, wax and rising damp.
- Cementitious plaster: cure for at least one week per centimetre thickness

If you doubt whether a specific substrate is suitable, first make a test piece. The number of types of substrates and tiles is too large to rule everything out in advance.
Processing
Mix the powder into a creamy, lump-free gel and apply it with a notched trowel that matches the tile size and substrate.
- Process between +5 °C and +35 °C
- Pot life 6 to 8 hours

- Grout after 6 to 8 hours on wall, after 12 hours on floor
Do not add any more water once binding has started. Protect the work from heavy rain for at least 24 hours, and ensure a fully filled adhesive bed outdoors or under high load. Temperature, ventilation and the absorbency of the substrate affect the processing and curing time.

What exactly does C2TE S1 mean? C2 stands for an improved cementitious adhesive, T for reduced slip, E for extended open time and S1 for deformable. The latter letter makes it suitable for underfloor heating and for substrates that move.
How much time do I have to correct a tile? The open time is longer than 40 minutes. In the pot, the mixture remains workable for 6 to 8 hours, although this depends on temperature and ventilation.
